Reconstructive Vaginal Rejuvenation: What It Is and What It Does

Reconstructive vaginal rejuvenation pertains to corrective vaginal procedures that aim to correct problems after giving birth or during aging. It covers anything that can change the vaginal anatomy, whether internal or external. It does not pertain to any specific procedure and can take the form of creams, injections, surgeries, and laser treatments.

Commonly, vaginal rejuvenation addresses the following concerns:

Vaginal dryness - a condition wherein the tissues in the vagina are dry, thin, and not well-moisturized, causing soreness or itchiness in the area

Urinary incontinence - a condition caused by problems with muscles and nerves that help the bladder hold or pass urine, causing one to unintentionally pee

Vaginal laxity - occurs when the outer labial tissue loses elasticity, causing it to appear saggy.

Our surgeons at PAPRAS can recommend up to more than one procedure, depending on the patient’s desired outcome. These procedures can include labiaplasty, clitorial hood reduction, monsplasty, and vaginoplasty. Benefits of these treatments to patients can range from improved self-confidence to better sex life and cured bladder incontenence.

Before surgery, we advise that the patient should be ready to schedule multiple appointments for checkups and postoperative treatments. It is also worth noting that they would not be allowed to do heavy exercises; swim in pools, tubs, and jacuzzis; as well as engage in sexual intercourse for a minimum of 4-6 weeks after.
